HAHA! I had this one in gold. brought back good childhood memories. I loved Majorette because cars had suspension. I also had a Toyota Hilux pick-up truck. Both were my favorite off roaders.

Never seen the gold one! Will have to check again in my catalogs and see if I can find it.
Most Americans here pay no attention at all to Majorette. I had a few as a kid, but the market here is mainly dominated by Matchbox and Hot Wheels. However, I am currently collecting Majorette too as well as Hot Wheels and Matchbox.
I do indeed like the Majorettes for the same reasons as you. Good metal body, on metal chassis, and tough and durable wheels. I have not yet seen a Majorette with broken wheels no matter how beat up it is. Kinda' feel bad for Majorette, because they built some quality reliable toy cars, and nobody cared at all, at least not in the USA.

It was easier to find Hot Wheels here as well. Matchbox, not so much but there were also fairly common. Majorette wasn't that easy to find, but some major toy stores did carry the brand. My uncle loved them so he usually got me Majorette instead of the other two brands.

at least 20+ years ago, Majorette cars felt and were higher quality than Matchbox or Hot Wheels. Today they look the same and they don't even have suspension I think.

Oh, and I found the pic of the Cherokee I had! [link] It was more of a mustard yellow. But in real life it did had a metallic finish that can't be appreciated in this pic.

Yes. That's what I meant. The old 80's Majorettes had a lot of good qualities about them. Now they just look like Maisto knockoffs. They aren't making any models so far, as a tsunami that went threw there wiped out their factory. So they've just been borrowing cars from other companies and selling them off as Majorettes so they can still stay above water. That was in 2010 or 2011 or so.

Oh yes, I figured you might have meant gold yellow and not actual gold chrome. I have that one too, but it had a different Indian theme on it. I guess Majorette played on the fact that because it was called the "Cherokee" that they decorated most of the models with western and Indian motifs. lol
